The short version. Your footage never leaves your Mac unless a feature you press needs it to. FramePal's own servers store your account, your licence and — if you leave backup on — your channel profiles. We do not store the text of your transcripts or the prompts FramePal sends to the AI models; the usage records we keep are counts and costs, not content. You can delete your account and everything in it from your account page at any time.
FramePal is software for Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, operated by Bennet Rijkaard ("FramePal", "we"). This policy covers the FramePal application, the FrameMotion companion, and the framepal.ai website. For UK/EU data-protection purposes we are the data controller for the account information described below.
FramePal is a local-first application. The following are processed on your own machine and are never uploaded to us:
framepal-log.txt), which stays in
your application-support folder unless you send it to us yourself.| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address | To identify your account, send your activation key, and verify the address. |
| Password | Stored only as a scrypt hash with a random salt. We never hold the password itself. |
| Licence and activation key | Stored hashed. Your plan, trial dates and status. |
| Activated machines | Your computer's name and a one-way hash identifying it, so the two-machine limit can be enforced and so you can deactivate a machine you no longer have. |
| Usage records | Per request: the date, which feature ran, the AI provider, token counts, the cost, how long it took, and why it stopped. Not the prompt, and not the response. |
| Payment records | Your Stripe customer id and subscription status. Card details go to Stripe directly and are never seen by or stored on our servers. |
| Channel profiles (optional) | Only if profile backup is on — see below. |
⚠️ Profile backup is ON by default, and a channel profile can contain more than settings. It may include what FramePal measured from your reference videos, small preview frames from them, notes you typed, a record of the suggestions you kept or rejected, and — if you use Client Notes — sentences your clients wrote. If you would rather none of that left your Mac, turn profile backup off in FramePal under ⋯ → Settings. Nothing else about your account changes.
Profiles are stored as the bytes your own copy of FramePal wrote. Our server does not open, parse or index them, and they can only be read back by the account that uploaded them. When you view what a profile has learnt on your account page, the file is sent to your browser and read there.
These only happen when you run the feature concerned. Requests go through our server so that we can meter and cap the cost; we pass the request on and pass the answer back, and we do not keep the content.
| Feature | What is sent | To |
|---|---|---|
| Most AI features | The relevant part of your transcript and your instructions | Anthropic |
| Auto-transcribe | Audio rebuilt from your sequence | AssemblyAI |
| AI VFX | The video segment you marked | Runway |
| Generated visuals | Your description, and frames for analysis | Google (Gemini) |
| Memes, GIFs and clips | A short search phrase, sent directly from your Mac, not through us | KLIPY, GIPHY |
Because meme and clip searches go straight from your machine, those providers see your IP address and we see nothing about them.
If you are in the UK or the EU you have the right to access, correct, export, restrict or object to our use of your data, and to erase it. You can also complain to your data-protection regulator — in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.
Most of these you can exercise yourself: your account page shows what we hold, lets you deactivate machines, lets you delete individual backed-up profiles, and lets you delete your whole account.
Account page → Danger zone → Delete my account. That immediately and permanently removes your account record, your licence and activation key, every machine on it, every backed-up profile, and your usage history. Your copy of FramePal stops working and the key cannot be reactivated.
Two honest exceptions. Payment records held by Stripe are kept by Stripe under their own retention rules, because they are financial records we are required to keep. And where a request has already been sent to an AI provider, whatever they retain is governed by their policy, not ours.
Email support@framepal.ai for anything in this policy, including data requests.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and tell account holders by email.
